McClancy Memorial High School is a Catholic school built in 1956 and is conducted by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. It is centrally located between Northern Boulevard and the Grand Central Parkway. It also is easily accessible by the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. Many students commute by mass transit whether by bus or train. There are buses that run from the train stations to the corner of the school. Very convenient. There is a faculty of 43 very qualified professionals. There are 3 teachers with their Ph.D. degrees, 22 teachers with their M.A. and 10 teachers who are candidates for their M.A. Presently, there are 8 members of the faculty who are alumni, demonstrating the family atmosphere. The students are very successful; 100% of the senior students graduate and 94-96% go on to colleges / universities. We have small classes where you will not become a number. Our teacher/students class ratio is 1:13 with an average class size of 25 students per class. The students can graduate with 36 College Credits. These courses include Calculus, Composition and Rhetoric, Business Law, English Literature, Advanced Biology, Painting and Sculpture, and Three Dimensional Design. We have three computer rooms with IBM Pentium computers. Our students can take computer programming courses and there is Internet access throughout the building. We have an exceptional Art Program. |
